Junk And Desire (Review # 2)

Scans:
This six-song CD leaves one asking two questions: 1) How did these Ohio boys get such a cool spin on the Euro-pop sound? and 2) Seeing as Tom Lash is credited with writing, arranging, producing, and singing, as well as with playing bass, guitar, and keys, can it be long before he's simply a solo artist? Regardless, Lash has a pleasant upper range lead and mixes crunchy guitar riffs with warm, woozy synth fills. The zippy "Warm Jets," the almost Duran Duran-ish "Don't Let It Fade," and the more somber "Heart Of Darkness" are my favorites. I'd venture that Cure fans (and lovers of other sometime-gloomy, sometime-poppy Euro-synth bands) would love this EP. Check it out.
